Dr. J versus Rocky for Dems
Sports metaphors are popular these days in the Democratic Party’s presidential contest.
With Pennsylvania up as the next biggest primary, sports-talk that is rooted in the Keystone State (especially Philadelphia) has become the new fashion.
To start things off, Clinton has said that she’s like Rocky — and never gives up.
Obama has said that he’d rather be “Dr. J” Julius Erving — star of a championship Sixers squad and innovator of the dunk.
Of the two, we’d say Obama chose better since “the Doctor” is a real person while Rocky… likes human growth hormone (HGH).
If the two candidates ever need to debate again, though, we’d like to ask them whether they’d rather be Yankees’ third baseman Alex Rodriguez or the entire Florida Marlins team (given recent reports that Rodriguez is paid more than the entire Florida roster).
Since politicians enjoy answering questions with questions and since the Clintons apparently know how to rake in the dough, we half-expect that Clinton’s response might be… that she’d rather be George Steinbrenner. Cha-ching.
