PGA Searches for Nadal

A year or two ago, columnists were celebrating the dynastic convergence that Tiger Woods and Roger Federer brought to professional golf and tennis, respectively.

Now, though, Tiger is out for the season getting his knee repaired while Roger has been caught by at least one rival — Rafael Nadal.

The difference for the sports is that with Tiger’s absence, the ratings plummet and casual observers don’t recognize (m)any of the players.

For tennis, though, it’s clear that Nadal is poised — and has started — to string together the start of his own dynasty to gradually — and gracefully — succeed Federer as a dominant #1 player.

We’re doubtful that Nadal excels at golf; however, it’s a safe bet that the PGA wishes they had the same dynamic that the other “country club sport” is enjoying.
